Back to the Disco dancefloor!

Since Disco is having a rivival these days, I've noticed that it's not only the music people seems to get interested in. No... Everything Disco is HOT!!! And I really love it...

So... What's up with Disco today? As I've been telling you before in this column, many of the new upcoming artists, DJ's and Remixers are sampling old Disco and Funk classics to create a effects, an old feeling and probably also some familarity to their new songs. Also there's many radio stations world wide who have found this groving interest for Disco music and they host special Disco shows. One of the best are Joe Causi's Studio 54 Clubhouse show on Saturdays on KTU in New York.
BUT... as I said from the start – it's not only the music that's Hot today...
No no! Now we're about to slip into those clothes and platform shoes again, together with renting Saturday Night Fever to make sure to get the dance steps just right...

What about clothing... Have you still got your old polyester suit and platform shoes?
If you do... Then you better bring it out of the closet and dust it off. Don't forget to pull out the shirts with these long collars. Don't forget the platform shoes. All you ladies, put on your skirts and blouses or maybe your Halston dress. Slip into your high heels or platforms. Now you and your man/woman is all dressed up for a hot night in the nearest Disco. I can assure you you guys will be the hottest of the hottest...
So... What to do if you don't have all the outfit?
I'd say you have to head down to your local second hand store and try to find some of the above mentioned outfilts. But chances are there are no, since this style is hip again. Another chance you might have if you're young and want to look like Travolta and the others of Saturday Night Fever... That's to check your parents closets. Hopefully you'll be able to get some cool clothes there...
Good luck with the outfits...

Now... On to the dance steps to use on the dance floor...
As some of you might recall – the Hustle was THE dance in the early Disco days. There was different genres of this classic dance and one of the most know was probably the New York Hustle. It's the pair dance Tony Manero (John Travolta) and his partner dance in the Saturday Night Fever movie. It's really a cool and hot dance. OK, it's not as hot today after all the latin dances like Merenge, Lambada and others...
But John also did these awesome dance steps on his own and all these steps when the whole dance floor crowd lines up and do the exact same moves. That's some dance scenes that still gives me the chills. I just love those moves...
I really wished that I could help you all out with a steps instruction, but so far I haven't been able to find any good and easy instruction teaching the Hustle and John's solo moves. But if You or anyone you know still have a good instruction to these moves, please let me know 'cause there are lots of people who wanna learn the moves. So please mail me Disco dance moves.
If you can't wait to get started to Disco dance I would really suggest you to rent Saturday Night Fever and find both Disco moves, clothes and Great music!

When you're all set to go Disco-ing, take a trip by Studio 54 to get in the right Disco mood before you go...
I really hope you will enjoy your Disco trip...
'Till next month...

Take care and Disco-on,

"Discoguy"
