Get Disconnected

Miami based GetDisconnected.com only started out in 2004 and already they've given us CD's with previously unreleased material and tracks that never has been released on CD before from various hot Disco acts. Ore of GetDisconnected tells me in autumn of 2006: "We are hoping to grow and do more disco re-issues and who knows, maybe some soul records. We are currently working to release the rest of the Celi Bee and the Rice & Beans Orchestra catalog. We are working on redoing 'the Best Of' Celi Bee with a couple of previously unavailable songs that were recorded around the era of 'Superman'. We will also have some of the Viola Wills catalog as well. Think we are going to do a 'Best Of' Viola Wills and issue the Dare To Dream and Space albums on CD for the first time. Also, the Rice & Beans album that you have [Dante's Inferno - see below] is an album that was previously unreleased as well, though it was recorded in the winter of 1979." Disco Classics Volume 1 [GetDisconnected DSC 5000] GetDisconnected.com give you a compilation of Disco hits where some have not been previously available on CD. Just the opening track "Souvenirs" is a collectors item and I know lots of people wanna have this on CD. Most tracks comes in their long 12" or album versions. Disco Classics Volume 2 [GetDisconnected DSC 500x] GetDisconnected.com give you a second compilation of of more rare Disco classics, again some of them are released on CD for the first time. This is a release that will keep you "Dance A Little Bit Closer", it's a "Hot Shot". One of my personal favorite Disco tracks, the 12" version of "Got To Have Lovin'" by Don Ray is even on there, as well as the 16 minutes version of Santa Esmeralda's "Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood Suite". As on Volume 1, most tracks comes in their long 12" or album versions. Another great compilation, all "Hands Up".

Disco Classics Volume 3 [GetDisconnected DSC 500x] Time for the third GetDisconnected.com Disco Classics release. Ann-Margret (the album) [GetDisconnected DSC 5008] Sweden born actress Ann-Margret had a #8 Billboard Disco chart hit with her song "Love Rush" which is available on this album. The whole album is uplifting and danceable, this granted its success and took this Ann-Margret album to #12 in the Disco charts. All songs were written and produced by Paul Sabu who always had a more Disco-Rock sound to his productions. It's very nicely arranged and Sabu used both Strings and Horns along with the Rockier sound. This is something "For You".

Celi Bee Fly Me On The Wings Of Love [GetDisconnected DSC 500x] Celi Bee, or Celinas Soto which was her real name, scored her first hits at T.K. Disco as Celi Bee & the Buzzy Bunch, where the 1977 track "Superman" was their biggest hit. But in 1979 she went solo and recorded the now classic "Fly Me On The Wings Of Love" which peaked at number 16 in the Billboard Disco Charts. So, enjoy this classic album from Celi !

Debbie Jacobs High On Your Love [GetDisconnected DSC 5005] This album starts out with Debbie's Number ONE Billboard Disco Chart single - "High On Your Love". That track set the mood for the whole album right away. Followed by "Lovin' Spree", a little downtempo dance track with Chic-ish stings and bass. Mmmm... Third out is "Hot Hot (Give It All You Got)" which was also the flip of the "High..." 12"single. A song as strong as its flip and heavily played in the clubs. All track are dance tracks, except for he last track, "I Can Never Forget A Friend", which is a ballad. Paul Sabu wrote and produced all the tracks, which grants for a little harder Disco-Rock sound. Dance-on, 'cause this is "Hot Hot".

Debbie Jacobs Undercover Lover [GetDisconnected DSC 500x] This is Debbie's first album from 1979 with the hits "Undercover Lover" and "Don't You Want My Love" where both hits, surprisingly, were released on the same 12" single which peaked at #6 in the Disco Charts. The album also include the hit "Hot Hot (Give It All You Got)", which Debbie would hit with again in her second album (see above). Let Mrs. Jacobs take you "All The Way"!

Poussez! Poo-Say! [GetDisconnected DSC 5003] This studio Disco act was created by Alphonse Mouzon, who also wrote the songs and produced this act for Vanguard Records. Alphonse also had some hits under his own name and worked also with other acts, but Poussez! was the most known. All tracks are classic NYC Disco and the whole album peaked the Billboard Disco charts at #15. The album also include the famous DJ - Roy Thode's 12" version of "Come On And Do It". Come on - "Boogie With Me".

Rice & Beans Orchestra Dante's Inferno [GetDisconnected DSC 5007] Studio group created and produced by Pepe Louis Soto for the T.K. label. This is supposed to be the Orchestra's last release, recorded in late 1979, and it seems it was never officially released. For background vocals and special appearance on the album Pepe brought in Celi Bee and Ullanda McCullough. The album is a 'theme' album in the vain of Alec R. Costandinos' Romeo & Juliet album with different acts (or canto's in this case) all seagued together into 2 long tracks (one for each LP side back then). Enjoy this "Dante Disco Inferno"!

Sabu (the album) [GetDisconnected DSC 5010] Paul Sabu was the son of actor Selar Sebu and actress Marilyn Cooper and he recorded this Disco-Rock album under the name Sabu. His Disco-Rock took his whole ablum to #9 in the Billboard Disco charts in beginning of 1980. Paul also wrote and produced for others, like Ann-Margret and Debbie Jacobs. .

Sister Power (the album) [GetDisconnected DSC 500x] Don't know much about these three HOT 'sisters' except that sure had some Power... Just check out titles like "I Like Whatcha Do" and "Help Me Love Again". Let's not forget their hit "Gimme Back My Love Affair". Make sure you've got some "Sister Power".
